Stephen G. Wessells
As if the stars had left the skies
to sport like dolphins in your eyes,
something celestial in them rides
my rocky shores like ocean tides;
then let your love’s reflected light
kindle with tears my starless night,
and in their welling seas immerse
a new-created universe.
Stephen G. Wessells, a native of Richmond, Virginia, attended Guilford College and moved to Greensboro in 1975. He has written poetry for over forty years, and is dedicated to restoring formalism to respectability. Major influences include Ezra Pound and the Romantic poets.
